Disadvantages of SSE

https://www.aclu.org/blog/womens-rights/back-school-minus-sex-stereotypes

This article talks about the disadvantages of having single sex education (SSE) in our school systems. I happen to agree due to the fact that to me the costs greatly outweigh the benefits. Social skills are crucial for the work industry and if males and females are being separated, then they are not learning valuable communication techniques with the opposite sex. In fact the article states that by separating genders, we are in fact promoting gender stereotypes. Our article in class gave many advantages for having SSE but they stated that "drill-and-kill instruction used in male classes as a method for controlling behavior has potentially harmful effects" (Crawford-Ferre & Weist 305). So by separating genders in the classroom, we are in fact possibly hindering their learning and social abilities.
