If you see something, Say something

http://www.upworthy.com/the-struggles-of-being-a-woman-in-a-male-dominated-field-summed-up-in-a-short-comic-re2-3b

For so long we have taught to be respectful and obedient to our peers, but even in the work field, why must women submit to men as inferiors? The comics depicting "the struggles of being a woman in a male-dominated field" show the true conflicts that many women face daily. I have had so many friends as well as myself make excuses for men treating us poorly, but why? Why has society formed the belief that we can be treated poorly just because we are women? This comic reminded me of how as a social society, we allow our behavior to be shaped through "paths of least resistance. The path of least resistance is to go along, and unless one is willing to deal with greater resistance, that's the choice one is most likely to make" ( Johnson 71). So many of us go through our lives just not wanting to start drama or cause a scene, so we let so many things slide, but it should not be this way. Society can change the harassment of women by just saying something. This comic depicts such simple aspects of womens' daily lives such as that we must "be nice" or that we should "not start a fuss," but it is true that if women just begin to say something and stay strong for themselves, we could change the future of gender differences in our society. So the next time that a man treats you poorly or you witness someone else being harassed, don't be afraid to say something!
